Apple has exciting news for those eyeing the USB-C AirPods Pro variant! The tech giant has unveiled the standalone USB-C case for AirPods Pro, making it accessible to users who want to upgrade without purchasing an entirely new set.
Now, AirPods owners can seamlessly pair their current buds with this new case, eliminating the need for a full set purchase. However, the MagSafe-compatible case is currently priced at $99 (roughly Rs 8,350), presenting a significant opportunity for those keen on transitioning to the USB-C ecosystem.
Expected just in time for Christmas, these USB-C AirPods Pro cases were launched earlier this year alongside Apple’s iPhone 15 lineup, marking a shift from Lightning to USB-C during the September event.
These new AirPods Pro boast dust resistance and water splash protection. Additionally, when used with the yet-to-be-launched Apple Vision Pro headset, they promise wireless lossless audio—a feature music enthusiasts will eagerly anticipate. Presently, the standalone USB-C case is exclusively available in the US, with availability in India expected in due course.
Apple has long championed the Lightning port, but the EU’s mandate for USB-C charging due to environmental concerns has influenced this transition. The USB-C standard, known for its versatility, has become ubiquitous across most devices.
