By Good news for Canadian iPhone owners (except Quebec)! If you have an older iPhone gathering dust, you might be eligible for a payout from a recent class-action settlement against Apple.
What’s the Deal?
The settlement stems from a lawsuit alleging Apple included hidden software features in certain iOS updates that slowed down older iPhones (iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7 and 7 Plus). These features, along with alleged defects, were said to cause iPhones to age prematurely, shut down unexpectedly, and suffer from battery problems.
While Apple denies any wrongdoing, they agreed to a settlement of $11.1 million to $14.4 million CAD. This translates to potential payouts of up to $150 per eligible iPhone.
Who Qualifies?
To be eligible, you must have been a resident of Canada (excluding Quebec) on June 15, 2023 and owned one of the following iPhones:
- iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, or SE
- iPhone 7 or 7 Plus
You also need to have updated your iPhone to iOS version 10.2.1 or later before December 21, 2017.
Claiming Your Money
