Google Cloud Partners with Mistral AI to Scale Language Models on Tech Giant’s Infrastructure, Secures €385M Funding

Google Cloud and Mistral AI have teamed up, revealing a collaboration that allows the Paris-based generative AI startup to leverage the tech giant’s infrastructure for distributing its language models. The announcement, made jointly by the companies, highlights their partnership unveiled on Wednesday.

Under this agreement, Mistral AI gains access to Google Cloud’s AI-optimized infrastructure, featuring TPU Accelerators. This collaboration aims to facilitate extensive testing, development, and scaling up of Mistral AI’s LLMs (large language models) while adhering to Google Cloud’s robust security and privacy standards, as mentioned in the joint statement.

LLMs are powerful models trained extensively on vast datasets to generate text and various other content types.

Mistral AI, established by former Meta and Google AI researchers, recently disclosed securing 385 million euros ($415 million) in its second funding round within seven months. This substantial funding round was led by notable investors like Andreessen-Horowitz and LightSpeed Ventures.
